Laurie & I attended the Dripping Springs Planning and Zoning Commission meeting last night.  Jon Thompson, City Planner, presented a map to the commission for consideration.  The Commission had the option to approve, reject, or alter the map for the City to move forward with a master plan.  The Commission approved the map, with emphasis that it is a "living, fluid, document".  The routes are not set in stone, and may be altered after further public hearings and engineering or environmental reports.  The Commission recognized the need for a starting map to move forward, yet also recognized the concerns of the community speakers.  Most of the public speakers lived in the neighborhoods that would be affected by the current proposal and voiced concern about safety and property values.  Both the Commission members and the public would like to see bike paths and walking paths incorporated into the plan.  The Commission said that they would possibly schedule another public hearing, and expressed that, with the exception of Bob Shelton Rd, the Eastern most portion of the loop may be moved further East toward undeveloped land.  They also will take under consideration the impact on existing subdivisions. For further information on the Dripping Springs Transportation plan, contact City Hall, at (512) 858-4725.
